Board Minutes Lone Star Region March 25, 2009 Meeting called to order at 7:40 PM. Board members present: Danny Benzer, Roger Krebs, Brent McNaul, Kathy Krebs, Jerry Hooten, Chris Taylor and Eric Jones; Guests: Richard Schley, Patrick Gillies. A quorum was present. Minutes: Minutes from February were approved on-line. Treasurer Report: * Receipts from the March race are mostly in, some checks were post dated and not deposited yet. * The club will realize a profit of a few thousand dollars from the March race. * Income Taxes for 2008 have been completed and available for review and must be mailed by May 15th. March event: * Race results have not been posted yet. We hope to get them posted ASAP. * Lots of positive feedback from the drivers about the race. * We had 184 drivers for the weekend. May event: * The race may be changed to run CCW due to negative feedback from drivers. We hope to run the 2.9 configuration but may have to go to the 1.8 if we do not get enough workers. Drivers will be asked to supply workers. * Jerry asked that "scales to be closed during impound" be added to the supps. * A video photographer wants access to corner stations during races. We will work with him to keep everybody safe. * Will try to provide ride-alongs to workers during an extended lunch session on Sunday. Have to confirm with the chief steward. * Brent may have to leave the race early on Sunday due to work schedule. * Roger will have generic LSR Grand Prix t-shirts made Draft: Eric asked convention attendees to get their articles in soon. New Business: * Richard Schley came by to thank LSR on behalf of the GT-1 and GTA drivers for a fun event. They appreciated the work-around for the sound control issues. If we use the same procedure for next year and advertise the event as "GT-1 friendly" races then we should get more of the northern GT-1/GTA drivers to come down. Richard will also act as a liason with the GT-1/GTA drivers to help get the word out. * LSR will look into inviting other groups to BoD meetings to try to get a handle on what we can do for each other. * Our camera for photo IDs is getting old and film hard to find. Gregg Matocha volunteered to buy a digital camera and printer for the club. Motion was made to authorize up to $250 for the purchase. Motion passed. * The FAASST Driver school has requested a link to their schedule on the LSR website. No motion was made and the request denied. * LSR will host the SOWDIV divisional meeting June 27, probably at Rosanky car museum or Harris Hill Road. All members invited to attend. * Paula Taylor has received the Predoc Award. LSR will try to organize a party in her honor and present the award at that time. More details later. * SOWDIV may ask LSR to put on two double national race weekends for 2010. A three day weekend in March and a two day event in May. Details to be worked out by the divisional meeting in June. * Roger proposed that LSR buy the necessary equipment for a tech trailer to be located permanently at TWS. Jerry will help put together a list of equipment needed. No official decision made at this time. * Kathy moved that LSR donate $200 to the American Cancer Society's "Relay For Life", which Roger will be participating in. Motion passed. * A number of specialty chiefs have retired or expect to retire this year. We need to recruit LSR members to train to take over these jobs ASAP. Old Business: * Convention: Receipts from Brent and Eric were submitted to Kathy and reimbursement checks written. Roger, Brent and Eric are supposed to write articles for the newsletter. * Bylaw changes: Danny and Roger will get together to finalize changes. Roger wants to go to an e-mail voting system. Meeting adjourned at 9:53 PM Respectfully submitted, Eric Jones Secretary for a Day
